Tui-na (Pronounced Twee na) is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) also known as clinical Chinese massage. Deep tissue massage and manual manipulation techniques are used to balance the body’s energy, speed up recovery and treat chronic pain.

Who would benefit from the treatment?

Tui-na is used to treat a wide range of health conditions including musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries, circulatory disorders and digestive issues.

It can support those suffering with:

Sciatica, scoliosis, frozen shoulder, sprains & strains, carpal tunnel syndrome, myofascial pain, whiplash, neck pain, tension headaches/migraines, plantar facilitis, tendonitis, bursitis, poor circulation, IBS, angina pectoris, hypertension, respiratory disorders, TMJ, reproductive and gynaecological disorders, infertility, menstrual pain & irregularities.

What to expect

Tui-na is usually performed through clothing. You may lay down to be seated depending on your condition and age. The practitioner will undertake a consultation prior to treatment and diagnose to tailor your treatment plan.

Targeted acupressure points will be used along the body, techniques such as rolling, kneading and gentle joint movements may be incorporated to increase range of motion. Neuro muscular release (NMR) is often used to release muscle tension and knots.

Contraindications

Tui-na is generally safe, yet there are a few health conditions where treatment is not advised including:

Active infection, fever, circulatory or cardiac disorders, diabetes, pregnancy 1st trimester, recent wounds/trauma, uncontrolled hypertension, contagious diseases, kidney/live conditions, cancer, phlebitis.

I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) over three years with the  Northern College of Acupuncture in York, where I have developed a thorough understanding of this time-honoured healing practice. Throughout my training, I had the honour of learning from distinguished professionals in the field, including  Dr Chris Davies, the CEO of the British Acupuncture Federation and founder of the  Total Therapy College in Macclesfield which significantly enhanced my knowledge and skills. 

My continued professional development has included  Fertility, Gynaecology, and Cosmetic acupuncture further improving my ability to effectively treat a wide array of health conditions. I am a trained medical phlobotomist and offer private blood tests for my patients upon request.

 My commitment lies in delivering high-quality care and achieving positive results for my clients.

I am registered with the Acupuncture Regularity Association and the British Acupuncture Federation.
